I've been using a pretty similar combination of vegetables - I love radicchio in particular. But I'm completely obsessed with the dressing from Canlis restaurant--just lemon, olive oil, and a coddled egg.

Any kind of grain salad - that's what I usually bring to our friend potlucks. I always leave with my container empty. Here's my current fave--quinoa with roasted tomatoes, avocado, and pesto.

I love Barbara's shredded wheat biscuits. Just plain, or with a little granola sprinkled on top. They just taste so fresh somehow!

@Claudina no need to! the ricotta acts as a buffer, so the crust doesn't get soggy.

Yes! You add the cornmeal with the other ingredients. What an omission - my apologies. -Cara

My new favorite are these Banana-Granola-Chocolate Chip Cookies. They may sound bizarre, but they're rich, caramel-y and surprising. Yum!

Genius! I usually just started a fire. @kristinapp's idea is totally usable too.

Recently moved out of an apt with a dishwasher to one without. I use good-quality gloves and the hottest water I can handle. This soap idea is great, though--I go through soap far too quickly.

What a beautiful kitchen! My apartment is also about 400 square feet, but Lauren's place so puts mine to shame!

Love this! I think we sort of had a spring version of this salad: burrata, asparagus, and slices of prosciutto.

We love planning the food for long weekends away! I think you're right to point out that dinners can be made ahead--not just sides, breakfast, and snacks/sweets. I like to make a chicken stew to bring out for the first night, to eat when everyone's just arrived and is too tired to cook. All our weekend-away cooking tips are here.

We updated this for Phoebe's midwestern dad, using just one can (the can of tuna), plus fresh cremini mushrooms, homemade breadcrumbs, and chicken stock. It came out so well. The recipe & photos are here.

When I saw the name of this, I thought of my Watermelon Ice Cream Cake. But this one actually contains strawberries! My cake just happens to resemble a watermelon. It's a great summer dessert! I'll have to do a proper comparison by making this one.

I remember nights in Rome when we'd order lots of antipasti. We never remembered not to get main courses after--and we never ever had room for them. Of course we should have known to just stick with lots of antipasti for dinner!

I love tapenade--such a nice change of pace from pesto, too, which I've been making in overdrive.

I love eggplant too--I've never understood why people don't. One my favorite ways to make it is to marinate it post-cooking (or grilling). This artichoke-eggplant salad is great on crostini, and I can never seem to get enough of this eggplant with sweet sesame soy. Mmm.

I'm definitely making this blueberry compote. It'll taste amazing over ice cream, and great over the French Toast I'm making too.

When I get sick of all things summer squash/zucchini, I go for this pasta--Summer Squash Angel Hair. I also have to recommend Arthur Schwartz's recipe for Spaghetti con Melanzane. It uses up lots of eggplant and tomatoes, and it's amazingly good.
