Tonight we're doing skirt steak and grits with roasted cherry tomatoes. Then tomorrow we're doing an arugula salad with these baked eggs with lentils and split peas!

And this cilantro lime slaw is great for a picnic since no mayo is involved. And seriously, people love it (as long as they like cilantro).

Oh bean salad too! Good call cuminafterall!

I also like this one from The Kitchn (plus lemon juice to give it a little more zip, which I prefer):

Gosh I love picnics!

This Kale Salad with Pecorino and Pecans is great and can last a while without refrigeration (it's also great with dried cherries, dried cranberries, or diced pear tossed in):

I also like to make this Rosemary and Lemon White Bean Dip along with fresh pita or pita chips:

These homemade cheese crackers (#1 in the link) are a fun to snack on:

Fresh fruit and vegetables are also simple and great. Or a bag of kettle corn.

I also usually bring a small insulated bag with an ice pack (or ziplock baggie filled with ice) so that I can bring a couple cold items. Favorites are this tortellini pasta salad and marinated feta cubes.

Finally, for drinks I like to bring fresh lemonade or something like this watermelon limeade.

In the fall, for a chillier picnic, I like to bring a thermos of hot tea!
