I have known about how to make ice cream without an ice cream freezer for years from the Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk site. They have a great resource for all kinds of recipes using eagle brand sweetened condensed milk as an ingredient. I have never tried it, but am planning on it soon! Thanks for the reminder.

I reach for my stick blender before I reach for my Cuisinart or my blender. I mostly use it to puree marinades, but also use it when I make my roasted tomatillo sauce. I use it for soups too...so much less fuss and easier clean up. Often I puree in a container that will also hold what I am blending...so saves a lot of cleanup. Love my stick blender and it is not an expensive one. Has paid for itself for sure.

Genius is right!!!! For a small apartment, those little portable ones will also work...you know...the dorm sized ironing boards. I feel enlightened.

Very informative! Thank you and it is a long process and appreciate their dedication to their trade. Purity and quality. Glad they can feed pigs or at least the by product is also useful.

Great post and thank you for making people aware not to judge! Sometimes I shop at walmart when I have to get other things, mostly I shop somewhere else. When I can and when I go, I shop at roadside stands, farmer market venues. What I do most nights is put a good meal on the table that I prepare from ingredients I know I am using or prepare from "scratch". Thank you again. Such wisdom!

I miss Everyday Food too! I used to be a gourmet subscriber. I do like the recipes in Real Simple until I read the nutrition information. Many of their dishes are so high in calories. I just subscribed to Cook's Illustrated. Will see.

I was slammed hard at 5 weeks both times. Started out as nausea, but led to more severe hyperemisis. I had my Dr stumped. I started my mornings with either a popsickle or baby food fruit. Could keep that by the bed and eat it upon wakening. Anything that was easy to throw up. Mostly something that was sweet in flavor. I also found out eat only what you want to eat. For me, if I ate something just to eat it, that was usually not a good thing. The usual tricks for nausea did not work for me except NOT getting hungry. A hunger pang meant the worst....

I had an IV, was in bed for over half my pregnancy vomiting, and on 3 anti emetics....I know my case was not simple morning sickness. The best thing is, I had two beautifully, healthy babies and was actually willing to go through it again...but my husband could not. It was tough on him to see me so sick.

Not only your tastes, but your smell is heightened. I could not be in my kitchen....there was a smell I could smell that was sickening, and I only smelled it when I had morning sickness. The only thing I can liken it to is opening up a full spice cabinet and smelling that. I was fortunate to not be sick for my entire pregnancy as I have known people to have that. The end result is worth it. Congratulations!

The phrase goat cheese grabbed my attention. Goat cheese is divine. Thank you for this recipe. Will definitely try it, but not for Valentine's day. Too late, but any day would be fine.

I have a general electric waffle maker with removable plates. The plates reverse to a flat side for grilling. I have never used the flat sided plates. My waffle maker was a gift for our wedding 33 years ago...I just used it the other day and it still works perfectly. The plates are non-stick, but being able to remove them makes washing a cinch. I love overnight yeasted waffles and have another recipe I use, and the waffle batter rises in the refrigerator overnight. I will try your recipe too. I totally get the replaces bread comment. They have such a unique taste. Love them. Thank you.

A very happy birthday to your daughter and she is so lucky to have you bake her such a special cake. Thankfully, my children honed in on a few favorite cakes of mine and it was an easy and predictable cake that I would end up baking for their birthdays. I am the one who kept changing the cake I baked myself every year...and no I didn't mind doing that...I love baking.

I made these last night. They are easy and I always have these ingredients on hand. I am a lover of little dishes, ramekins, custard cups, etc and have nice collection of them and just happened to have 6 oval clear baking cups. Perfect! So good and quick. I also just heated up the leftover ones in the microwave and they were yummy too. Thank you for these adorable cookies...which could also become a gift. I used to do this with colleagues...bake individual items and let them keep the dish I baked the item in as part of the gift. Love your newsletters.
