This Creamy Sausage and Kale Penne is a go-to. It's so incredibly simple and versatile, I can throw in whatever meats or greens I have on hand and it's always scrumptious.

And as far as baking goes, this Crazy Cake is about as simple as they come. One of the few dessert recipes I actually have memorized.

My go-to quick dinners are usually pasta or some kind of hash with a fried egg on it (or really anything with a fried egg on it). These are two of my favorites:

I loved this. Perfection does feel like a form of slavery, and I think it takes away from the joy of preparing and sharing food. A middle ground is real...that's just life...at times exactly as we want it to be, and at a times a little rough around the edges.

I love this Veggie Orecchiette with Breadcrumbs. For some reason it tastes so much fancier than it really is: http://www.neighborfoodblog.com/2013/03/veggie-orecchiette-with-breadcrumbs.html

For dessert, truffles are a great option-- these Double Chocolate Sea Salt truffles are one of my favorites: http://www.neighborfoodblog.com/2011/11/double-chocolate-sea-salt-truffles.html

Haha! I love this! I'm always trying to figure out ways to try the cake without making it look like I tried it. For layer cakes I usually just eat the bits that are scraped off before frosting and filling, but this is even better!

I adapted my own recipe from yours (that you posted awhile back) and am loving the results. The main difference is just a bit of chipotle in adobo sauce. Adds that kick of smokiness that I love so much in the original! I also pulverize the beets in a food processor. I think it helps keep everything together better. Now, I just need to figure out what mustard they use now. That mustard is the bomb!

I'm so intrigued. I just made pie crust this weekend that just had a few Tablespoons of sour cream in it. The flavor was great, but I imagine it would be even better with a whole cup!

Ummm deep fried Monte Cristo...FOR SURE. I am a sucker for deep fried cookie dough. It's like eating a cross between raw cookie dough and a baked cookie...only with hot batter and chocolate syrup all over it. Loooooove it.

This is perfect timing! I'm heading on a 10 hour road trip on Friday and I am all over those homemade energy bars. I also did a post on road trip food on my blog a few years ago. I like to make stromboli and wrap single portion sizes in foil. It's an easy meal that can be eaten on the road either hot or cold. I also like frozen grapes and Baby Bell Cheeses. But I have to admit, I also use road trips as an excuse to indulge in one of my guilty pleasures--namely, pretzel M & Ms. Can't resist!
