Aside from using egg whites to bulk up my breakfast sandwiches, my favorite thing is to use them to make financiers, or small french tea cakes. Made with brown butter, almond meal, egg whites....they are divine. We love them with some chestnut cream tucked inside!

I have to agree with the others when it comes to asking you not to change too much from what you've been doing. I love how you introduce us to ingredients (educating us on whole grains and how to use/cook them, for example) and I would welcome more of that. I want to learn as much as possible and I wouldn't mind nutritional information (though I understand why some do not). I think what you're doing so far is great, focusing on teaching us how to cook better and eat well. Keep the tutorials, techniques, tips, etc. coming!

Same here. Bought a cast iron pan a couple of years ago and discovered it was great for cooking steak. Worth the investment just for that.

It's interesting because I've made the recipe with half whole wheat flour twice and I have to agree that it did not rise much in my experiences too. I make sure to bake it in smaller, 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 size loaf pans. I don't get that much of a second rise in the pan. It works but it's a small loaf...

I'm taking Sunday off but tomorrow, I'm planning pancakes and bacon for breakfast, quesadilla and hummus wraps for lunch, and chicken parm for dinner. A little chocolate-amaretti cake, too, since I have a handful of amaretti cookies on hand. Happy Mother's Day weekend! : )

I've been a long time reader of The Kitchn. In the last couple of years, it's really become my go-to source for recipes and how-to's. I'm very grateful to have it in my life and it has really been a great source of inspiration and information. It was great reading about how Apartment Therapy and The Kitchn came to be. Congrats on all your much-deserved's to many more years of great content and good living to come!

Lots to cook tomorrow since I'm having family over for dinner. Curry chicken rice, saffron/lemon orzo with shrimp, mushrooms in phyllo cups. Going to make a chiffon cake in the morning. Kids are having pizza and build-your-own sundaes...should be fun.

I'm a little surprised by the pecans, too. And you know I recently started snacking on pistachios because I had half a bag left, with the best-by date on the horizon. I usually use it to make orange-pistachio biscotti but I munched on a couple of them and realized they are really good as a straight-up snack. So I've now added hazelnuts, pistachios, walnuts, and sunflower seeds into my otherwise only-almonds for snacking routine when it comes to nuts.
