I agree. Consider a mini fridge if your shelf isn't working out. Sharing groceries is a landmine in most roommate situations.

Crudité plates were the reason I hated veggies as a kid. Maybe I'd have felt differently if the plates were full of sugar snap peas, cucumbers and cherry tomatoes instead of raw broccoli & cauliflower....
We use the same approach with fruit. On Sunday, we cut up the best fruit we can find (right now its watermelon, strawberry and raspberries) and portion it into individual containers. Great as a sweet end to lunch, and much better quality than the fruit cups at the store. Takes 10 minutes!

Fat carries flavor, it doesn't make sense that less fat = more flavor. More likely, the warmer temperature of gelato enables you to taste the flavor better.

There's also the magic sauce that turns any fruit into a dessert: equal parts cream cheese and marshmallow fluff whipped smooth with a dash of vanilla extract. We used to add a drop of red food coloring, because for some reason it tastes better pink...

Instead of a trash bowl, I use a paper or plastic grocery bag. Then when I'm done I can close the bag & throw it away (or take to compost). Seems like if you used a bowl you'd have another thing to clean. Saves me a ton of time!

My husband makes pineapple tea with pineapple skin. Just boil it in water to infuse. Its really good on its own, but I could see adding it to green tea as well.

Its great to see lists like this, because it's also useful for snacks at the office. Something you can inconspicuously nibble on before or after lunch.
Sugar snap peas are my favorite, though green beans work too... Similar snap & sweetness.
I also recommend kumquats (very refreshing on long trips), grapes, and strawberries.
Pomegranate seeds are a little messier, but they're the perfect thing when you want to mindlessly snack and not accidentally devour a bag of m&ms!

Columbus... To get a veggie burger from North Star (or the injera platter from Blue Nile), a marzipan peach from Mozart's and some Jeni's ice cream for dessert. And maybe stock up on fresh corn, the likes of which you'll never find at a grocery store.
Or... If it has to be far-flung, I'd go to my favorite juice bar in Sao Paulo and have a suco de milho verde at Acai Mooca.

I love cosmos! Though I usually watch it with a big bowl of ice cream. Two treats at once makes for a really pleasant evening, something to look forward to.

Love cardamom in coffee!! Clove is sometimes nice too. Sweetened condensed milk is another good one, especially in cold coffee. I was surprised no one has mentioned affogato when talking about ice cream & coffee.
One thing I like is using brown sugar instead of white. It gives the coffee subtle carmel notes. One of these days I'll get brave enough to try butter in my coffee, I'm worried I'll like it ;)

Juicing is a great way to use fruit that you don't plan on eating (disappointing apples, too soft pears, wilted kale etc).
While I agree that getting health advice on the internet is ill-advised, I can say from personal experience that when my hubby & I replaced dinner with a veggie juice, we slept better and lost weight.

We got a cool-looking square dish set from target that IMMEDIATELY started showing fork/knife scrapes. It was worse than IKEA (which at least lasts a year or two).
They were not cheap either. I wish I knew what indicates a quality set but all I can say is don't buy target dishware, it sucks.

We didn't have a registry and have no regrets. Planning our wedding, we were annoyed at how often the celebration was used as money grab... We had pretty much everything we needed in our house, so it seemed greedy to ask for more. In the end, the wedding was great, everyone had fun, and we got to share a meaningful moment with all our closest friends. I highly recommend it.

There is a Vietnamese avocado shake that is quite decadent - avocado blended with sweetened condensed milk and ice. Amazing in the summer!
But my favorite way to eat avocado was taught to me by my husband, just mashed with a little sugar and lime juice.

I tend to plan a week's worth of meals of varying levels of effort then eat the food in roughly the order that it will go bad (fresh salad greens first then broccoli later). Plenty of room for spontaneity and wiggle room for days when I'm too exhausted to really cook. I never have a problem with wasted food. You just have to plan things knowing how things usually (realistically) go during the week.

My siblings and I recently got some of our old favorites (cinnamon toast crunch, cracklin oat bran) and they were too sweet to eat! We couldn't finish a bowl!
There is something about plain old shredded wheat though that keeps me full & happy all morning.
